I slide the frostedglass door open and look into the bathing room: a row of taps and showers so that a dozen people can wash at the same time; little plastic seats where you sit as you scrub; and a very large communal bath like the ones I’d seen at hot-spring resorts in the mountains. A notice at the door says the bath is only available in the evening, although showers may be used at any time.
